Airport officials' stern warning after woman's escalator antics go viral

A woman has come under fire by airport officials for ‘escalator surfing’ as her friends cheered her on.

Jessica Higgins, from Waterford, decided to have a bit of fun on the moving walkway as she made her way through the departure lounge at Dublin Airport.

And it wasn’t long before she had a crowd of people around her in hysterics at her antics as she pretended to swim while straddled on the escalator handrail.

Her friends can be heard shouting ‘swim’ before breaking out into the ‘Baby Shark’ song.

The video went viral after her sister Linda shared it online, reports the Irish Mirror.

Linda told the website that it was just the start of what was a big weekend for them, as they were jetting off to Liverpool for a hen weekend.

But Dublin Airport officials have now warned anyone thinking of attempting a similar stunt that it could lead to serious injury.

A Dublin Airport spokesman said: “While this may appear to be a bit of harmless fun, it’s actually quite dangerous and could result in a significant injury for anyone that attempts it.

“The safety and security of our passengers is Dublin Airport’s key priority at all times.”
