Valentine's Day 2019: What the royals will do on Valentine's Day REVEALED

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will spend the most romantic day of the year apart today. Prince Harry will visit a remote training camp in Norway, which is 200 miles inside the Arctic circle. Meghan will no doubt be spending the day relaxing ahead of giving birth to her first child later this spring.

What do the royals do on Valentine’s Day?

Jessica Ilse, royal expert at Royal Central revealed the royals tend to spend Valentine’s Day privately and out-of-sight.

She said to Express.co.uk: “William, Harry and Kate have usually done engagements on Valentine’s Day the past.

“That’s also the case for William and Harry this year.”

Harry’s overseas trip may have been a disappointment for the former actress, although she may not mind spending the day without her beau.

She once wrote in her blog called The Tig: “Hook, line and sinker, I am such a sucker for Valentine’s Day.

“I think you need to be your own Valentine”

The Duke’s trip was planned months ago and revealed to the public last month.

A statement from Kensington Palace said: “The Duke of Sussex will meet military personnel living and training on the base.

“He will view some of the specialist outdoor severe weather equipment and training that is conducted at Clockwork and talk with expert aircrews and engineers.”

The trip will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of Exercise Clockwork in Bardufoss.

This was the traditional name of the annual winter exercise that trains Royal Marines and Royal Navy sailors and airmen.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have not confirmed any details of their plans for Valentine’s Day.

The day is usually a time for royals to give back to the community, rather than buying each other extravagant gifts.

During her first year as a newlywed and member of the royal family in 2012, Kate spent Valentine’s Day visiting patients at the Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, according to PopSugar Australia.

Prince William was also away in Argentina for military training, so they also spent the day apart.
