Deontay Wilder sends message to Anthony Joshua about Jarrell Miller fight

Deontay Wilder has poured scorn on Anthony Joshua’s fight against Jarrell Miller.

Joshua will defend his heavyweight world titles against the unbeaten American at Madison Square Garden on June 1.

The Brit was unable to agree a deal with fellow world champion Wilder – despite being offered $50million last year.

Joshua also failed to thrash out terms with domestic rival Dillian Whyte for a clash at Wembley on April 13.

The 29-year-old will instead bid to crack America in his first professional fight outside of the UK.

But speaking before the announcement, Wilder told talkSPORT: “Jarrell is still an unknown fighter here in America. Jarrell is from Brooklyn and stuff like that, but they don’t even know him in his own city.

“He’s not a name that’s been developed in the market here so for me I don’t think it’s going to be a great look for him because even Anthony’s not that known here in America.

“The people that do know him, they know about $50m, they know about the story of the $15m flat and why the fight isn’t happening. So I don’t think they’re going to accept it very well, but we’re going to see.

“I don’t think they’re gonna get the outcome that they’re expecting is gonna happen. I know they’re expecting the English to come over and support it big, but it shouldn’t be that way.

“If he had done the right thing and accepted the fight, and say he’s coming over to fight Deontay Wilder , the outcome would be crazy.”
