Brummies tune in in their droves to see The Chase on ITV1 every single weeknight, with Bradley Walsh’s game show routinely thrilling.
Whether it’s Mark Labbett – The Beast – or Anne Hegerty’s The Governess, we can’t help but be impressed by the Chaser’s knowledge.
Sometimes, a notable contestant, or a notable Chase, will make headlines.
But tonight those watching the ITV1 daytime favourite were left discussing something to do with the rules of the show.
As the latest instalment of the show aired, fans flocked to Twitter and Facebook to have their say.
Last week, Judith took on Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan, alone – bagging an astonishing £70,000 – and every episode since has felt underwhelming.
But tonight 67-year-old supply teacher Richard from Cornwall was mercilessly trolled.
It came after answering a crucial question with the same wrong answer that Jenny Ryan had given.
When host Bradley Walsh asked, “What confectionary company makes Revels?” The Chaser replied with, “Cadbury?”
The correct answer was, of course, Mars, and Jenny’s wrong answer gave Richard a chance.
But after conferring, he blurted out to a baffled Bradley: “Cadbury?”
“Jenny just said Cadbury”, a confused Bradley responded.
One viewer tweeted: “enny was never losing 2 in a row… not with mastermind Richard giving the exact same answers as the chaser… MORON!!! #TheChase”
While another pointed fun at Richard’s response: “‘she said Cadbury so you say Mars’ ‘Okay.. erm Cadbury’ FFS”
Judith landed the whopping win after facing the Chaser in the final round single-handedly.
Her team-mates had all been knocked out.
After winning a massive 20 steps, she repeatedly managed to push Jenny back with her incredible knowledge.
“Extraordinary, £70,000, extraordinary,” Bradley gasped as she won the record sum. “Highest figure ever won by a solo player, sensational.”
He then left where he was standing to hug Judith, adding: “I’ve never seen anything like it,” reports the Mirror
The Chaser then gave Judith a standing ovation and told her “I’ve never done this before”.
Taking to Twitter during the episode, Jenny (pictured above, third from left) wrote: “I’ve been awaiting the broadcast of this episode… Judith is such a memorable contestant! #TheChase.”
She also revealed that Judith almost didn’t make it onto the programme and only found out that she was on the show 24 hours before she was set to appear.
Below, viewers claim The Chase is fixed:
“ALL HAIL JUDITH! If I remember correctly, Judith was a standby contestant, and only found out she was on the show 24 hours before recording,” Jenny said. “I was well and truly beaten.”
“Absolute perfect play by Judith,” she wrote. “£70k at table with nothing to lose. She set a very strong 20, which forced me to rush slightly.
“Then capitalised on my errors by nailing pushbacks – which further put the time pressure on me, leading to more errors.”
