The Fine Gael parliamentary party will meet in Dublin today ahead of the new Dáil term tomorrow.
The meeting takes place as the Government’s Brexit preparations intensify.
TDs and Senators from will gather knowing it could be a busy period ahead in the Oireachtas.
A no-deal Brexit would require the swift passage of complex legislation to prepare the country for the changed trading environment.
On that front there is likely to be a particular emphasis this week on planning for changes at ports and airports.
The supply of medicines is also high on the agenda.
Officially, Government will only say that important memos will be brought to cabinet on Tuesday as part of the ongoing preparation for Brexit.
As Westminster gets ready to vote on the Brexit deal, the Government here says they will respond once the result is known.
The main focus of today’s Fine Gael meeting is climate action, and what the party plans for the year ahead in this area.
Political priorities will be discussed too, including plans for the local and the European Election campaigns.
The party says it is ensuring that it is prepared for all events this year, including these elections and anything else that may arise.
