Naby Keita produces brilliant double nutmeg after three minutes vs Bournemouth

Liverpool knew that a win away to Bournemouth at Saturday lunchtime would put them top of the Premier League – for a couple of hours at least.

Jurgen Klopp’s side sat two points behind Manchester City ahead of their trip to the Vitality Stadium, with the champions not facing Chelsea at Stamford Bridge until Saturday evening.

Klopp made another five changes to his starting line-up following their 3-1 win at Turf Moor on Wednesday.

But one player that kept his place was summer signing Naby Keita.

Keita has struggled to find momentum since his £48 million move after suffering from a couple of niggling injuries.

But he produced a brilliant performance in midweek and was rewarded with a second consecutive start.

And he picked up where he left off at Bournemouth.

That’s because, within just a couple of minutes, he was embarrassing Bournemouth players.

After picking the ball up near the touchline on the left wing, Keita cut inside by nutmegging Simon Francis. He then slipped the ball under Jefferson Lerma’s leg as he slid in to complete a brilliant double nutmeg.

Not bad, that.

And Liverpool fans loved it on social media. Just check out the reaction:

After his display against Burnley, Klopp spoke about the slow start Keita had made to life at Anfield but insisted he just needed to be given time.

“He needed a bit of time to adapt as everything was new to him and that’s all,” Klopp said, per the Liverpool Echo.

“We knew how good he is and it is all about bringing the boys in the right moment.

“If our players have worked together a long time then you use them because in these short periods you don’t have time to train and that means it makes it more difficult to adapt.

“But of course we never had any doubt about the quality Naby brings. That is why we waited for him for a year and wanted him so desperately. He is a fantastic player and is a very important player for us as he can make the difference.”
