X Factor's Gio sparks security fears over stalker who calls 100 times a day

X Factor favourite Gio Spano has a middle-aged woman stalker – who calls him up to 100 times a day.

The singer – who performed in West End musical Bat Out Of Hell- has been hounded by the woman for months.

She is said to go to every show he performs in – sitting in the same seat every time.

Gio also thinks he’s seen the obsessive fan in the X Factor audience too.

Show bosses have been alerted and security at the house where the acts are staying and the London studios where they record the show have been warned to look out for her.

“Security at the house are aware of his superfan,” a TV source said.

“The contestants do get some fans knocking on the door, so security are always at the house. Gio has played it down as he believes she is harmless.”

Gio’s friends have tried to convince him to take it further – but he doesn’t want to hurt the woman’s feelings.

“People close to Gio have warned him that getting up to 100 calls a day from somebody he doesn’t know isn’t normal,” one said.

“He’s one of the nicest guys and didn’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings so he hasn’t taken it in further.

“He’s expressed to friends that sometimes he does feel slightly unnerved – particularly as this person sits in the same seat every night to watch him.

“There’ve been a few moments where he thought he’d seen this stalker in the X Factor audience but he can’t be sure.”

Gio is in the overs category and being mentored by Robbie Williams’ wife Ayda Field.

Gio, from Ruislip, West London, comes from a musical family and was part of the cast of smash West End Meatloaf musical Bat Out of Hell.

It’s not the first time Gio has had to deal with an obsessed fan – one showed her appreciation by getting a huge tattoo of him in the musical on her leg.
