Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos had some strong words for Conor McGregor following the Irishman’s demands of ONE Championship’s Chatri Sityodtong.
Last week a massive trade sent former ONE Championship welterweight title holder Ben Askren to the UFC in exchange for former flyweight kingpin Demetrious Johnson.
That news prompted former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor to plead with ONE Championship boss Chatri Sityodtong to “show respect” and absorb the entire men’s 125-pound division.
“You must now take all the 125lbers that have been let go, Chatri. You talk all of this Martial Art and respect talk, yet your greed has directly cost more than half a fighting division it’s chance to earn income for their family. Have respect @YODCHATRI. Sign the division.” – Conor McGregor
McGregor’s comments toward Chatri did not sit well with a number of fighters, including former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.
The Brazilian standout, “RDA“, took to Twitter where he told Conor McGregor to shut up while calling the Irishman a drunk.
“You’re drinking Too much whiskey, shut up you drunk.” – Rafael dos Anjos said in response to Conor McGregor.
Conor McGregor was last seen in action at October’s UFC 229 event in Las Vegas where he suffered a fourth-round submission loss to bitter rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The Irishman is currently on a temporary suspension from the NSAC, this due to his involvement in the post-fight brawl that ensued shortly following his loss to “The Eagle“.
As for the former lightweight world champion turned perennial welterweight contender, Rafael dos Anjos will look to move one step closer to a 170-pound title shot when he squares off with Kamaru Usman later this month.
