Grandad becomes Instagram star – and your heart might not be able to take it

This guy is probably the world’s coolest grandad – and it might just be the most adorable thing you see all day.

David Cookson, 85, has started an Instagram account to help motivate him through his weight loss journey, and has now become an Internet sensation.

The grandfather’s feed features hundreds of photos of himself eating Slimming World friendly foods from the comfort of his armchair.

He decided to create the page in September after one of his daughter’s suggested keeping an online food diary would help – and it has since amassed 64,000 followers.

After going viral, he wrote: “I am blown away by all the positivity and such kind words. Thank you all so much.”

Photos show a jovial looking David getting ready to tuck into low syn meals – from spaghetti bolognese to a healthy fry up.

He smiles in every photo – even the time he gained 1.5lbs in weight – and offers wise words of wisdom to his followers.

“Unfortunately it was a weight gain this week of 1.5lbs,” he wrote in one post.

“But I’m still smiling as tomorrow’s a new day, I will go back to basics and remain on plan every day this week and turn it around.

“It’s hard not to overdo it when you’re out with the grandchildren for half term, but it’s out of my system and now I’m already feeling positive for the next weight in.

“Hope you all had a lovely week, David.”

In another, he proudly holds up his ‘dad rules’ mug as he grins profusely, preparing to eat a fruit salad with yoghurt.

Some photos feature his wife, Barbara.

David, who has four daughters and is from Lancashire, rose to fame after a woman named Natasha Rodgers stumbled on his page and shared a picture on Twitter.
